That Feeling

I don’t know how to explain it
That feeling
That feeling inside
The one that makes you smile and realize how beautiful life is
Feeling that nothing in the universe can tie you down
Feeling like you could sprout wings and fly
anywhere your mind takes you
You stand there staring into the sky
Your once clean pretty sundress
dripping rain water into the puddle submerging your bare toes
Your hair is curling out in every which way
from the humidity of the fifth muggy August day in a row
As you run your hand through the tree branches
dripping more water drops on your head
You wonder how when everyone is bored, hot, and annoyed with the “stupid weather”
How you can feel so alive
So complete
So fully satisfied
Out of breath from dancing in the downpour
And yearning for the warm, soft, secure blue towel
lying inside for you
And yet, you are so content
More than content
You are fully connected to the earth
and your mind is wide open to the universe
Ready to jump in
